I coined the term Spiritual Investigations after trying to (unsuccessfully) find an existing box in the literary world for the books I was publishing. They sure fit within the esoteric, occult, and spiritual genres, but those were too broad to convey the uniqueness of the texts.
When I started studying with Michela Chiarelli (read Why I Publish Esoteric Books), I quickly started devouring her books too. At first, it was those about her tradition: Magic, the use of Herbs/Crystals, Rituals and Ceremony. Then I moved on to texts such as Titani - Quando Dio Era La Natura (tr. Titans – When God Was Nature), Samael L’Angelo Caduto (tr. Samael – The Fallen Angel), and Il Giglio del Deserto: Maria, Madre di Gesù (tr. Desert’s Lily: Mary, Mother of Jesus), and I was blown away. These are written together with Tiziana Ghiggia—a friend, journalist, and overall a woman passionate about the world’s traditions and obsessed with truth.
What I found were things I hadn’t read in other books and couldn’t google. You’ll agree with me that in an age when all knowledge seems copy-pasted, or just a rewording of ancient texts, finding original works that offer a new perspective, open a door in our intellect, and crack the certainty path we were so comfortably walking… is nothing short of incredible!
Inevitably, this kind of text was the first one I published when I decided to give my publishing dream a go. It was Il Richiamo di Wotan (which I translated and made available in English a year later as The Call of Wotan). Later, came an epic 4-volume series on the origins of the Mother Goddess—the first Goddess: Inanna.
But so - how do these Spiritual Investigations come about? And what is special about them? I’m glad you asked!
Michela is someone highly trained to interact with other realms and other Beings. But don’t picture trance states or mad possessions, please. Her great teacher—the grandmother Nonna Malva—was firmly against that kind of interaction, believing that no “good being” would want to possess another’s body or mind. Michela, therefore, channels in an extremely present state—I’ve witnessed it myself, more than once. Something else, and something I highly value, is that neither she nor Tiziana ever go searching for an entity or Being to write a book about: they come to them, voluntarily, to speak their truth and tell their version of history.
Fun fact—among many—is that the Being sends signs of its presence to both of them. Michela, who is also a seer, quite often gets a surprise visit (like that time when Metatron appeared in front of her bed one ordinary afternoon, just as she sat down, tired, to rest for a moment.), while Tiziana starts experiencing strange things and synchronicities (like during a storm, when a statue of Zeus, safely placed on a shelf, suddenly fell and shattered into pieces. That was Wotan making his entrance!). Michela isn’t someone to lose her center—even when Goddess Lilith showed up. And before she and Tiziana give their time and attention to any deity or Being, they test him/her. The Being will try to communicate and get their attention through indirect or unexpected ways: for example, being drawn from a deck of cards by a friend who then messages Michela saying she felt the urge to pull a card for her, or through synchronicities, such as when Michela’s sons brought her a textbook page featuring that God because “he was mentioned in class.”
This not getting excited about receiving a visit from a Spiritual Being is, in my opinion, one of the grandest signs of consciousness. This no-bragging attitude—this refusal to feel “special” just because one is contacted by entities—translates into not acting as a subordinate to that entity. And that, in turn, means you're able to converse with the Being as an equal, without taking every word as absolute truth.
If you’ve been around spiritual circles long enough, you know what I mean. I know it well because, for the longest time and until quite recently, I felt the need to feel special or unique by having “extraordinary experiences.” It’s very human.
But to do a certain kind of work, you have to go beyond yourself.
Only a fraction of the revelations that get shared with Michela, make it into a book. When that knowledge is also meant for the public, Tiziana begins the research in the world of form. However, rather than diving headfirst into academic research or niche books, she sifts through all the “common knowledge” surrounding that Being or God/Goddess. Centuries of lies and odd facts—cemented in the collective consciousness and now mainstream—are presented to the Entity, who in that moment has the opportunity to set the record straight. During these sessions, hidden pieces of history are revealed, and the authors get hints on where to find breadcrumbs of that truth across many continents and cultures that, at first glance, may seem disconnected from the thread… and yet… the thread of truth doesn’t follow a linear path and requires some work on our side to uncover. Truth is never handed on a silver plate. It often comes as a reward after time spent digging through what seems like nonsense.
I wish I could say that I’ve questioned the stars since childhood. In truth, I started to wonder about the origins of humanity in very subtle ways, and that subtle question nested itself in my mind, drawing a new path for me to walk. And the more I read, the more I felt I was distancing myself from the answers I so sought. What I mean is the why became a persistent follow-up to everything.
It is utterly unbearable at times, if you allow yourself to feel it, how our society doesn’t know the truth about the origins of mankind—that we have no memory of our collective past: like there was a blink and we woke up today in a veiled world. Our collective consciousness is foggy, fragmented, and incomplete. Many ancient texts have been destroyed, some have disappeared, and others are kept secret. So, no wonder we keep recycling what we know, what we’ve been told, and don’t stray from the “common path of knowledge.” Because where else can you find knowledge?
Well, if not in our world, then in the Other—or Others.
This is why I value serious channellers (which are also a rarity in this world!). Many of those channellers don’t even know they are, and end up writing books that get shelved in underrated fantasy sections.
The work of Michela Chiarelli and Tiziana Ghiggia blends channelling with rigorous research. Tiziana has no fear of asking uncomfortable questions or pushing for clarity when something the Entity says doesn’t make sense.
It’s a strenuous job—one that’s worthy, because some of these texts are written for the sake of Memory and Knowledge.
Is it Truth?
Yes.
And no.
But also maybe.
It depends on the person reading the books to judge for themselves. Our Spiritual Investigations challenge a lot of beliefs. If you’re someone who’s built an identity around a specific belief, it will be very difficult to see the light of our revelations—especially if they rock your boat.
All spiritual work should be approached with an open and present mind… or it quickly turns into dogma.
